How it Works

MY PROMISE TO YOU

I strive to make each and every cover unique. Therefore, I will never sell your cover to someone else. I may use the same background image more than once or use it in a different manner, or use the same model in a different pose with a different background, but I will never sell a cover that is the same or very similar to another that I have sold. This ensures that the cover you purchase from me is uniquely yours.

Disclaimer: Because I purchase stock photos rather than taking all of the photographs myself, some portions of the cover might appear on other covers created by other designers. I have no control over this.

ADJUSTMENTS

If you would like minor changes to any of the premade covers, I am willing to consider providing those at no extra cost. Examples of minor adjustments would be font changes or alterations to general coloring. If you would like major changes in the design of a premade cover, such as a different background or the inclusion of another image, those are subject to availability and also will require me to charge additional fees to cover my costs and time. Any such changes costs will be discussed with your prior to you committing to purchase the product.

REQUIRED DIMENSIONS
I prefer that you give me the dimensions needed for your cover and the name of the avenue through which you will be self publishing. Amazon may require particular dimensions, whereas other companies may require others. I cannot provide you with a quality product that will display well without knowing these dimensions and I do not wish to be spending time searching the internet for these numbers. If you require a paperback cover, I will also need to know the number of pages of your book, the type of paper (this effects overall thickness) that will be used, etc. We will discuss these details more when you express interest in a particular cover, but I just wanted to give you a heads up. The paperback covers are designed specifically for Createspace, an Amazon platform. Other self-publishers may require adjustments to the dimensions.

CUSTOM COVERS
I do design custom book covers, but will only accept custom order requests that are a good fit for me, if I have the time to complete such projects promptly, and assuming that the images you would like used are reasonably easily available to me. You may show me what images you would like by emailing me a link to where they are located online, so that I can ascertain cost and copyright/licensing requirements. It is also acceptable for your to explain what types of images you would like used, according to the general theme and style of your book, so that I may search my available resources to see if I can find something that you like. However, I do not promise to accept every request for custom covers.

PERMISSIONS AND COPYRIGHTS
I have or will obtain the proper licensing for the use of the images included in your book cover. However, each cover contains several images, and the photographers usually retain the actual copyright for the photos themselves. Once I revise them and put them together with other images to design your cover, I have the copyright for the completed cover image. I am, in essence, selling you the right to use it in the agreed upon manner.

ATTRIBUTION
You must give my name, Mary Andersen, and Inspirational Book Cover Design, as the cover design source on the copyright page in the beginning of your eBook, paperback, etc. Some photos included in the cover may also require similar sourcing of the photographer. I am not liable if you do not include such agreed upon attribution.

MY PORTFOLIO
I reserve the right to display your finished cover on this site, marked as sold, to act as a portfolio of sorts. This allows me to show more of the designs I have created, and it also gives you a bit of advertising and exposure for your book, free of charge. It's a win-win for both of us!

THE CONTRACT
I am required by local laws to provide a contract for internet sales. This contract will outline what I will provide, allow me assurance from you that I will receive payment, and explain the procedure required should you choose to cancel your order.

PAYMENT
I must receive a deposit, amounting to 50% of the base price of the cover, before I begin making any adjustments, adding your book title, etc. I will then provide you with low resolution proofs showing the changes made, until you are satisfied with the product, at which time I require the remainder of the agreed upon payment. I will then promptly email you the higher resolution, finished files. It will be up to you to give them to your publisher or to upload them to the self-publishing website you are using.
